Rose Shermaine was born in Boyle Heights , California on October 11, 1922. She was the only child of Armenian immigrants, Astrik Melikian (from Istanbul) and Garin (Gary) Melikin (from Armenia). She graduated from Garfield High School then married Thomas James Shermaine. She had three children, Francine in May 1946, Gary in April of 1947 and Christine in October of 1952. She became widowed in 1961. Rose the supported her family by working as a grocery checker and belonged to local 770, Retail Clerks Union. She retired in 1985 which was the same year that she became a grandmother. She is survived by Francine Shermaine, her eldest daughter, Christine Shermaine, her youngest daughter, Lucretia Shermaine-Sheppard her daughter-in-law and her only grandchild, Crystal Shermaine-Christine and grandson-in-law, Ryan Christine. She will be missed tremendously and fondly remembered and loved by all.
