Valentine Michael Acquilano, 86, long time resident of Santa Clarita, CA passed away September 10, 2015 at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, after a short illness. He was born in Geneva, NY on January 18, 1929 to parents Angelina and Romeo Acquilano of Italy.
Having relocated to California in 1960, in the early years he worked as a bartender in the Hollywood area within popular restaurants: The Chianti, The Dresden Room, and Nickodell’s. In 1978, successful business owners Val and brother Tony owned and operated a cocktail lounge named Valentino’s in Granada Hills, CA until the untimely death of his brother in 1989. Val continued as the sole proprietor. He retired in 1997 to the home he shared with his wife since 1968.
In retirement Val and Ethel enjoyed, several times a year, neighboring nightlife cities Laughlin and Las Vegas. Being avid football fans they traditionally could be found celebrating the super bowl at their favorite hotels. At home he enjoyed cooking from his home grown vegetable garden. He could often be seen walking and visiting in his neighborhood. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him the greatest joy. He will be truly missed by all who loved him.
