

Wallie was hired in 1946 by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. He was promoted to Captain in 1964 and assigned to Juvenile Camp 4 in Bouquet Canyon. In 1970 Wallie was assigned to build the first elite Heli tack fly camp in Los Angeles County Fire Department. Wallie then retired after 36 years of service in 1982.
Wallie enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 5, 1949 as a AAA Cannonier and served his country.
Wallie married Frances Emerine Hathcock on October 12, 1952 in Westwood, California. Their first son, Steven Reed was born on November 6, 1954. Steve and his wife Patricia had 2 children. Their second son, Ronald Reed was born on January 29, 1958. Ron and his wife Julie had 2 children.
Wallie George Reed passed away on May 24, 2025 at his home in Newhall, California, surrounded by his family and friends after a short illness.
Wallie was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Reed, and his 2 sisters, Marian and Corrine. Wallie leaves behind 2 children and their spouses; Steven, Patricia, Ronald and Julie, 8 grandchildren; Andrew, Megan, Rebecca, John, Randall, Allyson, Nicole and James, and 9 great grandchildren; Colten, Quinlynne, Michael, Owen, Paxton, Hudson, Tucker, Hayden and Reagan.
Wallie was extremely dedicated to the fire service, however he was even more dedicated to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all he met. He will be truly missed.
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at The Sanctuary Church, 26444 Friendly Valley Parkway, Santa Clarita, CA 91321 at 11:00am. Reception following at the Friendly Valley Country Club auditorium, 19345 Avenue of the Oaks, Newhall, CA 91321 at 12:00 noon.
