Will Archie Carew, born June 22, 1939, was the second child, and only son, born in Missouri to the parentage of Bill and Zelma Carew. He spent his early years in Missouri and then the family moved to Los Angeles, California. He grew up in Los Angeles and this is where he spotted the young woman who would become his one and only for life, Mary Catherine. As the story goes; they met one day while she was out walking her dog, Queenie. He circled back and pulled over to talk and so the story of their life together began. They courted and were married, making their home in San Fernando California. Then came baby boy Allen and four years later a baby girl April. Will was a very hardworking, dedicated husband, family man, and son. He had a long career working for Los Angeles City. He never knew a day of sickness before he retired, and he lived a blessed life. He enjoyed playing tennis with friends and Mary, tinkering on cars, and refurbishing his Morgan. At one point he dabbled in horseback riding; and had his own horse that he stabled locally, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and listening to jazz after a long day at work and having a little sip as he would call it. He was friendly and had a big contagious laugh. Will had many friends, many of which he has outlived. He would entertain them around the kitchen table, talking, laughing, or playing dominoes. He valued family and tried to spend almost every major holiday or event with extended family. He also loved having home cooked family dinners and breakfast and he would cook his version of eggs; country style with lettuce because as he put it, " I was raised on a farm". He was a good father; he made certain his children received the best in education, his time, and resources to follow their dreams. He spent time at many baseball games, football, and track for the boy and dance and music recitals for the girl. He lived with Mary for over 60 years at the same residence and retired from Los Angeles City when his health declined. Throughout his life he gave his heart to his friends and family and loved them. His accomplishments are observed through the life he built with his wife Mary, and the children they raised together. He is survived by his wife Mary, his son, William "Allen"(Cynthia), their two sons, Ryen and Kenneth, his daughter April and her children Justin and Yasmine, his big sister Leola, and his baby sister Nanette, the many cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives that adored him.
On February 12. 2011, Will Carew Passed the degree of Fellow Craft and Raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason.
