A brilliant, shining light in this world who radiated love and acceptance for all and danced her way into everyone’s hearts, Yazmin Antonia (Coronado) Pfeifer made her transition into the pure, positive energy of the non-physical realm on May 23, 2023.
Sweet, smiling Yazmin was born on January 17, 1978, in Bucaramanga, Colombia. She spent her childhood traveling back and forth between Colombia and Indiana, where her parents attended college.
Because she learned English as a small child, she always spoke without an accent (though her choice of words sometimes revealed her Hoosier roots and international origins). From the earliest age until her final days, her smile could light up a room.
Eager for adventure as a young woman, Yazmin spent a year in France as an exchange student. She later made her way to the U.S. for a permanent stay. Visiting her parents in Arizona, she met her soulmate and future husband, Michael. They fell immediately in love and together moved to California in the early 2010s. Though the two married after only three months, they knew it was “‘til death do us part.” Yazmin spent the duration of her life in Southern California and became a cherished part of her community.
An accomplished and natural healer, Yazmin completed medical school in Colombia followed by earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in the U.S. Eventually, she found her true calling in yoga. She practiced as a teacher for nearly two decades, primarily helping the elderly and injured. It was a spiritual path for her.
Together, Yazmin and Michael enjoyed countless glorious and fun-filled adventures. From their joyful honeymoon in Hawaii to simple road trips to Phoenix or Las Vegas, Yazmin always came overprepared (but in the end Michael was happy to have so many snacks!). Their last journey together was the birth of their beloved daughter Sofia, born from Yazmin’s desire to grow in love and experience.
Dancing was a lifelong passion for Yazmin, and she looked like an angel whether gliding across a ballroom floor or moving to a salsa beat. Nature was another of her great loves, and she could frequently be found hugging a tree or admiring the ocean.
Her many, many friends described Yazmin as a gentle soul and beacon of compassion who radiated warmth and open-heartedness — so much so that it was palpable. In the words of one, she was “a rare and precious being.”
Yazmin is survived by her husband, Michael; darling daughter Sofía; brother Nelson, and parents Marcos and Hilda. In her time on this earth, Yazmin was a truly adored wife, mother, daughter and friend to countless many who will forever miss her physical presence.
Love was the theme of Yazmin’s life, and she gave it unconditionally to all those who were lucky enough to know her. Her beautiful legacy will live on through Sofia and the innumerable acts of kindness and generosity she performed in her life.
Her loved ones look forward to feeling her dazzling energy embrace them as she watches over their earthly journeys.
A memorial service in Yazmin’s honor will be held on Wednesday, June 7 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 19606 Calla Way, Canyon Country, CA, 91351. The rosary will begin at 2:30 p.m. followed by a mass at 3 p.m.
