

Doris Beate Ruth Schaneen, born on September 30, 1934, in Frankfurt, Germany, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024, in Terryville, Connecticut. She was a beloved wife to the late Peter Schaneen Jr, a mother to William and his wife Heather, granddaughters Donna, Lisa and Sarah Schaneen. Doris is also survived by her sister Karen; brother Manfred; nephews Marcus Bauman, Jochem and Thomas Hubscher. She was predeceased by her brother Horst.
She met her husband Peter Schaneen while he was stationed in Frankfurt Germany in the United States Air Force. They were married in Germany on November 4, 1955.
Doris became a citizen of the United States in May of 1959, Doris was a long-time resident of Emerson NJ and eventually moved to Boynton Beach Florida. Throughout these years she cultivated an enduring passion for cooking delicious meals that brought loved ones together around the table. She loved spending time with family and friends. Her culinary talents were matched only by her love for travel - exploring new places near and far always brought immense joy to Doris's heart.
Those who knew Doris will remember her warm smile. She had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome with open arms. Whether it was through sharing stories over homemade meals or embarking on adventures together across continents - Doris made every moment count.
A graveside service will be held on April 13th, 2 PM at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, New Jersey where we will gather to remember Doris whose spirit touched so many lives throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers or gifts please consider making donations in memory of Doris Beate Ruth Schaneen to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, an organization supporting families, providing services and education to individuals, families and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias nationwide. It also funds research for better treatment and a cure.
Doris leaves behind an indelible legacy built upon love, laughter and unwavering kindness that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
