Dear family of D'Arcy,
I was sad to see D'Arcy in the Daily Press obituaries.  Although I didn't know him, I knew and worked with his mother, Julia, both at HRPE and Virginia Engineering Co.  We were both secretaries.  She was a good friend.  I remember she loved the name D'Arcy so I can see why the name carried on. I graduated from Warwick High in 1941 as Virginia Boyd and moved to CA in 1955.  I have been the organist at Mission Santa Clara for 40 years.

Just heard this sad news. Thoughts and prayer are with you, Barbara.

With most sincere sympathy to the family and his friends.  I was sorry to hear of D'Arcy's death.  The Phillips family became part of the Raine family when we lived across the street on Randolph Road.  Their Christian faith led them to help us and others many times.  We will miss him.

D'Arcy was my mentor and a true friend. He thought before he did because it was important to get it right the first time.  Quintin said it all for me. Heaven just got a great man.

May God grant you his peace and love during this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

My heart and many Blessing go out to Phillips family, thank you and thank God for giving us D'Arcy Phillips. Throughout many years of working with him, he was my mentor and a friend for whenever I needed it. He loved to program so he never failed to amazed me with his attending to detail, his problem solving solutions, his knowledge of ships and other engineering applications, his commitment and principles to always do a good job, and his compassion and love for family, church, the shipyard and others. He was very proud of the work we had done on RAPID and VIVID projects and often shared fawn memories with me of the good old days. I will truly miss seeing him every day, his kind greeting, wave and smile, his quick humor that would surprise you sometimes, the little yellow, green, pink stickers he would leave on your desk, especially the red smiley :) and sad :( faces. He was a great man, so intelligent and wise, but also humble enough to realized where his true strength and faith lies. I think maybe God said last Sunday, its time! You have fought the good fight, You have finished the course, You have kept the faith, so now its time to come home. Thank you for giving us D'Arcy E. Phillips Jr.

D'Arcy and I are about the same age. I enjoyed discussions with D'Arcy and swapping stores of childhood, times past, people, work experiences, and philosophies.   I will miss him and our discussions.  May The Lord grant his soul peace.

I have know D'Arcy since he was born.  We grew up in the same church some years apart.  He was a very kind and thoughtful man, always thinking about others.  He served the Lord and Trinity United Methodist church well.  He is already sorely missed by those who knew him.  I extend my sympathy to Richard, Barbara and all his family as well as to all his friends.

I have worked with D'Arcy for many years and will miss him dearly!  He was a staple in the office, always there to help everyone out and keep us on track.  I will miss all the stories about how things were years ago at NNS and Newport News.  He would always share the past history of each building we were at.  I'll also miss his smile and laugh. We would also chat about our families and church families and he'd offer his advice.  Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers!

I am shocked to hear of D'Arcy's passing. He immediately welcomed me when I joined the team at the Shipyard, and he loved discussing our various professional experiences. I really enjoyed his wonderfully dry sense of humor, and the way he could tell a joke with a completely straight face except for the little grin in his eyes!!! We shared our mutual love of music, and he was very passionate about the music he surrounded himself with from church - especially pipe organ music. I will miss these things and so much else about D'Arcy and I am proud to have been able to call him "friend". I know that he is in a better place now where he doesn't have to worry about the pains that come with getting older, and that Christ is welcoming him just as he welcomed Christ.

D'Arcy was definitely the go-to person for all things NNS and so much more. He was always willing to share that knowledge with co-workers, spicing it with his dry wit. He is greatly missed. My prayers go up for the family and friends he leaves behind. My heart rejoices for those he is reunited with in heaven.

D'Arcy was a most knowledgeable and valued co-worker at Newport News Shipbuilding and I am saddened by his passing.  Exemplified by his status as a Master Shipbuilder, D'Arcy had an intimate understanding of shipbuilding processes at the shipyard and especially the history surrounding NNS.  It is an honor to have known him.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.  He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Darcy's passing.  Prayers for the entire family  I've known Darcy since high school. We were alumni of Warwick high  class of 1968.

D'Arcy was one of my mentors at Newport News Shipbuilding.  His humor, wit, and intelligence were a delight to have.  Most importantly, he was a fellow brother in Christ.  He encouraged me both in my career at the Shipbuilding and in my faith as a Christian.  I will miss him.
