Dear Dian: The happiest day of my professional life was being hired by John in Sept 1970 fresh back from Viet Nam
...he was the primary inspiration to my successes. The saddest day was when I hugged him and said good-by in December 2006.
    I will never forget the twinkle in his eyes. I think of him often and always will. I just found out about his leaving us to join his Maker. God Bless him now and forever. Stone T. Ermentrout

Chila and I offer our sincere and deepfelt sympathy at John's passing. Also we want to offer our apology for not getting with you sooner. We were on our way to Nevada on October 9 and did not return until the 14th.  I did not save the newspapers. I saw Mike Batagglia today November 3 and he gave me the news. We plan on calling you later today.

He had such a wonderful sense of humor, and truly loved this City, as was evidenced by his loyal service to the numerous boards and commissions on which he served. He was always fair and considerate of his co-workers and treated all with dignity and respect. I am so sorry for what has happened. My heart is saddened to even think of the feeling of loss you all must be feeling. Your dad was a great man and loved by many. I will always remember him cleaning tbe wend wood pool getting ready for another summer. I also will remember all the times at our Wenwood cottage that we shared together and the time he came home from work when I was babysitting Jennifer and one of the dogs  had bitten my leg. He was always so full of joy. Keep the wonderful memories and remember that he is with Jesus now in a much better place  and free of any pain . Love you guys??

Dian and family, I was so sorry to hear the news from Joyce that John had passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. I remember fondly enjoying many swim meets with our daughters. Our deepest sympathies are with you and your family.

Mrs. Munick, Marci, and Jennifer-  I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Munick.  I have soooo many memories of our families spending time together... floating the wrong way down the Shenandoah, hiking in the rain at Massanutten Mountain, camping in a log cabin near Wintergreen, staying in a hotel next to a herd of cattle, and many, many, many Christmas Eves filled with Chex mix and FUN!   John was always so kind and such a role model.  I am so blessed to have known him in my youth.  You all are in my thoughts and prayers.  I wish that I lived closer and could see you.  Take care. John was such a wonderful and kind man. He always had a big smile on his face at all of his grand children's ball games. John will be missed by so many. Neil and I considered John and Dian to be one of the most loving couples we've ever met. We always enjoyed the time we spent with them. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dian and her family.

So saddened to hear of John's death. Where John and I haven't really seen or communicate in our senior years we as children growing up in Stuart Gardens we were almost inseparable, along with Bob Hedrick, Dennis Walker and myself.  When I lost my Dad at a very young age John and his Dad were there to comfort me and my family.  John was one of the nicest people I have ever know and the Typhoon Nation have lost a great and wonderful gentleman.... RIP my brother!

John was one of the few people in my life who I truly loved.  He was kind, considerate and always in an upbeat mood.  He was the fun in my life when we would play table tennis until 1:00 AM and we would bird hunt or just sit and talk.  We will truly miss him and have him in our memories until we also pass from this life.  Our prayers are with Dian and the children for comfort and peace as we know he is now with our heavenly Father.

So sorry to hear about Mr. Munick... I didn't know him well but I have known the Clarks for over 10 years! So sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one! Thinking about you all!

I am so sorry to hear about John.  I have known him since we lived in Stuart gardens.  Our parents were real close friends.  We all went to the same church. Prayers to your family.

Dear Dian and family,
I am so very sad to learn of John's passing and I send prayers for healing to all of you. John was just a joy, when I knew him at Elon College-- and his life has been filled with contributions to the world and love of family. He will be greatly missed by many.

I have known John for only 7.5 years through Drucker and Falk, but he was always so thoughtful of our staff and complimentary about the job we do!  That meant more to us that he would have ever known.  As it turns out, my husband Tommy has known him since he was a child at Second Presbyterian and said he was one of the nicest and kindest people he ever knew.  What a tremendous loss to all who knew him!  We hope your wonderful memories of him will bring you comfort.

Marci, Jennifer and Dian- Thinking about you as you suffer with this, and feel blessed to have been so positively influenced by John's professionalism, huge knowledge and great spirit as part of the IDA team, among his other civic involvements (so many!) I enjoyed working with John when we started the Green Foundation. He was so easy to be with and he got things done. What a wonderful man he was. The city has lost a real mover and shaker, yet heaven has gained. We will miss him greatly.

Jennifer, the death of someone you love is a very critical time, hard to deal with. You dad enjoy a full life of happiness and the memories of him will last a lifetime.
