Alice Nessare Pope Miller

Alice Nessare Pope Miller, age 86, of Catawba passed away on January 3, 2013 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born August 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late James C. Pope and Roxie Porch Pope. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Catawba and retired after 45 years working as a seamstress for Trendline Furniture Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Everette Lee Miller; brothers, Fred Pope, Paul Pope, J. L. Pope; sisters, Irene Frazier, Ester Goble; Viola Stewart; grandson, Daniel Scott; great-grandson, Brandon Edwards.

Survivors include daughters, Nancy Edwards and husband, Bud, of Catawba, Diann Harwell and husband, Norris, of Newton, Lana Jones and husband, Jerry, of Boone; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a very special niece, Cindy Leatherman; and special friend, Evelyn Shoemaker.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Greg Alms officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
