
Ardell Craig Stewart, 85, died Saturday, September 28, 2013 at his home at Abernethy Laurels Retirement Village, Newton, N.C. Mr. Stewart was born in Rimersburg, PA. on May 1, 1928 to the late Nannie Frances Randolph Stewart and Jesse Clairdon Stewart.
Ardell attended Thiel College in Greenville, PA. He was a veteran of the United States Army. In 1949, he was drafted into the Army, serving one year. Eight months later, he was recalled to active duty serving in Fort Sill, OK. Mr. Stewart was a supervisor in the chemical equipment sales business for 14 years and retired from Luwa Corp. as test center supervisor.
Ardell was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Frances Stewart; wife, Betty McCall Stewart, wife, Hazel Corbett Stewart; brothers, George L. Stewart and James R. Stewart.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae Reames Stewart; son, Roger Craig Stewart (Macie) of Charlotte, N.C.; daughter, Betsy Norris Man (Ron) of Memphis, TN; brother, Claude R. Stewart (Marjorie) of New Castle, PA; sister, Janet S. Kerr of Reston, Va.; grandchildren, Colin and Davis Stewart, Grace and Christian Man, Lily Russell (Brandon), Morgan Hallen (Jeff), B.T. and Maggie Bennight; great-grandchildren, Jane, Clemens, and Hazel Russell; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Charlotte, N.C. with Rev. Lonny McSherley, pastor of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ officiating.
The family request memorials to the Legacy Fund, Trinity Reformed UCC, 217 Second Avenue NE, Conover, N.C., 28613 where Ardell was a member.
