Effie Marie Huffman Mitchell

Born October 2, 1920 in Catawba Co., she was the daughter of the late Earl Clyde Huffman and Eula Mae Flowers Huffman. She was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Hickory, where she was a member of the Senior Friends and Lutheran Women.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Romey L. Mitchell; brothers, Ray F. Huffman, Clyde S. Huffman, and J.P. Huffman.

She is survived by her daughter, Etta Mae M. Bollinger and husband, Jimmy R. Bollinger of Newton; sons, Earl Thomas “Tommy” Mitchell and wife, Glenda T. Mitchell of Claremont and Gary L. Mitchell and wife, Janet C. Mitchell of Gastonia; grandchildren; Michael A. Bollinger of Maiden, Mark Mitchell of Claremont, Lorrie Barnes of Hickory, Regina Schronce of Claremont, Julie Huntley of Minoaka, IL, Josh Carr of Gastonia, and Jody Carr of Gastonia; great grandchildren, Linzey C. Bollinger of Maiden, Emory Bollinger of Boone, Adam Schronce of Claremont, Haley Schronce of Claremont, Quinton Mitchell of Maiden, and Luke Huntley of Minoaka, IL; great-great grandchildren; BreeAnna Marie Bollinger of Maiden, and Jaycee Mitchell of Maiden; sister, Jean Huffman Teague and husband, Jim Teague of West Chester, PA.

A service of remembrance will be held Monday, December 31, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at New Jerusalem Lutheran Church with Rev. Randall Cauble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Kanupp, Steve Flowers, Richard Huffman, Emory Bollinger, Adam Schronce, and Mark Mitchell.
