

Ethel was a co-owner and bookkeeper for Lentz Automotive Inc. in Newton. She and her husband John were carriers for the Hickory Daily Record for 50 years. As an avid gardener, she enjoyed growing unusual plants. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Newton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Lentz, Jr.; daughter, Patricia A. Lentz; three brothers, Burl, Vance, and Bud Proctor; and four sisters, Leona Sites, Eula Rudisill, Ruby Baucom, and Jessie Morgan.
Her survivors include her daughter, Pamela K. Lentz of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons and daughters-in-law, John A. Lentz, III and wife, Marsha, Eugene F. Lentz and wife, Gloria all of Newton; two sisters, Dot Bumgarner and husband, Lander of Maiden, and Olene Cannon of Conover; two grandsons, Shane and Jason Lentz both of Maiden; two granddaughters, Christy Lentz and Becky Lentz-Fernandes and husband, Felipe all of Arlington, VA, and three great-grandchildren, Ryder, Savanna, and Zachary Lentz all of Maiden.
A service of remembrance will be held, Friday, November 30, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton with Rev. Dr. Larry Yoder officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
