Born January 1, 1943, in Catawba Co., she was the daughter of the late John Abel Hewitt and Nell Yount Hewitt. She was a member at Church in the Son, Orlando, FL.
Gayle is survived by her husband of 50 years, John W. Wilfong of the home; son, Derek Wilfong of Apopka, FL; daughter, Tara Wilfong of Apopka, FL; brother, William Hewitt of Claremont, NC; and sister, Jo Marilyn Hewitt of Claremont, NC.
A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Claremont at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Haddock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church in the Family Life Center from 12:15 p.m.- 1:45 p.m..
Pallbearers will be Andy Abernathy, Danny Abernathy, Bob Busbee, Danny Hewitt, Roger Miller, and Paul Nickell.
