Born January 22, 1936 in Burley, ID, he was the son of the late Leo Albert Clayton and Adalaide Hinman Clayton.
Gene was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He retired as a consultant in the accounting industry and relocated to Hickory, NC. He and Margaret helped to start the local chapter of Mended Hearts at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was a member and past president of the East Fresno (CA) Rotary Club and former president of the Fresno (CA) Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dewayne Clayton and Jerry Clayton; and sisters, Leola C. Burr and Ona C. Moore.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 19 years, Margaret Tolladay Clayton of the home; sons, David L. Clayton and wife, Deana of Fresno, CA, Brian Paul Rousey of Hickory; daughters, Lori McDonald of Fresno, CA, Toni Jiminez and husband, Don of Clovis, CA; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Fresno, CA.
