

Genevieve Foy Miller Lowe passed away Thursday February 1, 2018, at the age of 94 in Newton, North Carolina. She was born in Burlington, Vermont on August 9, 1923, grew up in Barre, Vermont, and graduated from Spalding High School in 1942. In 1945 she graduated with a nursing degree from New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to practice as a Registered Nurse at Presbyterian Hospital.
After meeting through a blind date, Genevieve married her husband, David Alexander Lowe, on August 5, 1950. Genevieve and David made their home in Greensboro, North Carolina with their three children. Throughout her life, she was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, through her membership at Buffalo Presbyterian Church and later First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. She was named Women of the Year by the Presbyterian Women of the Buffalo Church.
After retiring in 1997, Genevieve and David moved to Abernathy Laurels in Newton, North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Alexander Lowe, and brothers, Alexander Hugh Miller and David Hugh Miller. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Hugh and Linda Lowe; daughter and son in law, Ashlyn and Jason DeWitt; daughter Amelia (Mimi) Collins; her grandchildren and their spouses Kincaid and Mike Beasley, Elizabeth and Marshall Crane, Ashlyn and Dale Hawkins, Sarah DeWitt, Stanton Collins, Rowan DeWitt; and her greatgrandchildren, Piper and Joseph Hawkins.
The memorial service will be held at Abernathy Laurels, in the Spirit Place at 1:00 pm on February 17, 2018 at 1 P.M. The family will greet friends after the service.
The family requests memorials to be made to Abernethy Laurels Benevolent Trust, 100 Leonard Avenue, Newton N.C. 28658 in the name of Genevieve M. Lowe.
