She was born in Lincoln, NC on October 6th, 1936 to the late Charles and Annie Helms. She was a member of Mathis Chapel Baptist Church in Catawba, NC. She worked at Carolina Glove.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Kirksey; son, Hank A. Kirksey; and four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Martha Susie Butts, and husband, Chuck of Catawba, Shelia Sipe of Catawba; brothers, Grover Helms of Catawba, and Charlie Owens of Maiden; sisters, Irene Scott and husband, Joe of Maiden, and Helen Bennett of Lincolnton. She is also survived by, six grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, August 28th, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathis Chapel Baptist Church in Catawba, NC. Pastor Dale Mellons will be officiating the service.
The Kirksey family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service.
