OBITUARY

John Koon Bolick

November 7, 1930August 8, 2019

John K. Bolick, age 88, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Catawba County, NC, passed away peacefully at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Aldersgate in Charlotte, NC on Thursday, August 8, 2019. Born November 7, 1930 in Catawba County, NC, he was the son of the late Virgil Theodore Bolick and Kathleen Rowe Bolick.

John was an active member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC, and was a veteran of the US Army, having served from 1954-1956. He was a graduate of NC State University where he received a bachelors degree in electrical engineering. During his career, John worked on the design team which developed the B-58 Hustler (the first Mach 2 bomber) and the Zeus anti-ballistic missile system. He retired after 20 years from Siemens Corporation where he was the chief engineer for the project which developed the autoclave, a medical device used for disinfecting instruments. John enjoyed working on cars and was known for being an excellent carpenter and “handyman”.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Theodore Bolick, Jr. and two sisters, Dorothy Bolick Turner and Betty Bolick Drum.

Survivors include his loving wife, Talitha Gantt Bolick of Charlotte, NC; sons, John Walter Bolick of Davenport, IA, and Martin Edward Bolick of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Nina Bolick Ritch of Charlotte, NC; brother, Robert Bolick of Middleburg, FL; sister, Elaine Bolick of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Jonathan Ritch and Jonathan Cameron Bolick; step-grandchildren, Andrea Barnes and Faron Payne; and great-grandchildren, McKenna Ritch, Connor Ritch, and Brennan Ritch.

A graveside service will be held at 5:00 PM on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Conover City Cemetery with the Rev. William Miller officiating.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC.
