Joseph William Scott Jr.

Born October 11, 1946 in Lincoln County, he was the son of Joseph William Scott and Evelyn Helms Scott.

Joe was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church in Conover and was a maintenance supervisor at Broyhill. A Vietnam Veteran, Joe retired as Sergeant in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Scott.

Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his parents, are his loving wife of 32 years, Lizbeth Scott; son, William “Billy” Scott of Newton; daughters, Teresa Scott of Statesville, Sabrina Ellis, Nancy Oxenford and husband, Eric; grandchildren, Ashely L. Lipford, Abby Oxenford, Shane Oxenford; brothers, Randy Eugene Scott and wife, Mary of Maiden, Ernest Dean Scott and wife, Mary of Conover, Steve Scott of Hiddenite; nephews, Brad Scott, Gregg Scott, Brian Scott, and Brandon Scott.

A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton, with Pastor Ruffin Snow officiating.

The family will receive family and friends following the service at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of Catawba County, P.O. Box 63, Hickory, NC 28603, or a charity of your choice.
