Born November 15, 1924 in Jefferson County, AL, she was the daughter of the late Frederick William Walker and Julia Hatcher Walker and had enjoyed retirement for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Wilton Robert Wickes, two grandchildren, Kelly Spruill and Darin Scherer, and a sister.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Linda Scherer and husband, Bruce, Denise Spruill and husband, Larry, all of Geneva, NY; son, Scott Wickes and wife, Avajean, of Hickory, NC; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. at Highland United Methodist Church in Hickory with Rev. Elizabeth Graves officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at Highland United Methodist Church in Hickory.
