

Born March 31, 1932 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Glenn Murphy Jones and the late Ethel Southers Jones.
Ken was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, good conduct medal, and silver service star. He was co-owner of Twin City Cleaners of Newton for 18 years. Ken attended CVCC from 1979-1982 and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. He was a devoted teacher for handicapped children in Lincoln County schools and taught them to make bird houses and build chairs. Ken’s hobbies were camping, traveling, fishing, and watching old western movies and all sports.
Ken was a member at Westport Baptist Church in Denver, NC, where he attended Sunday school and preaching. The family would like to give special thanks to Don and Shirley Greene, Sunday school class members, and special friends at West Port Baptist Church for all your support and prayers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy J. McCaslin and brothers, Harvey Jones and Terry Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alene Houser Jones; one son, Marcus Gwynn Jones of the home; sister, Yvonne Jones Simmerson, of Texas; brothers, J.E. Jones of Texas, Robert Jones and wife, Maxine of Newton, NC, and their son, Glenn Allen their daughter, Chasity Smith and husband, Jackie and their son, Brantley, brother Charlie Jones and wife, Janette of Newton and their family, Teresa Medlin and husband, Jeff and their son, Randy, Diane Bandy and husband, Jimmy and their son, Andrew Jones; sister-in-law, Peggy Day of Ranlo, NC and her family, Kandy and Brittany; friends and neighbors, Kermit Bolick and family, B.C. and Pam Lineberger and their son, Barney, Greg Reed, Shelby L. Munn, Rita Rudd, Ronnie, Joy, Andy, Alice Lineberger, Tim and Meachel Starnes, and Faye and Jim Phillips.
A graveside service with military rites by DAV Chapter #34 will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton, NC.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 22, 2013 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton.
