Born April 5, 1927 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Homer and Candace Herman Teague. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Newton and had worked in the textile industry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lester Summey Welch; daughter, Faye Colleen King; sisters Catherine Herman and Tressie Teague Blackburn; and a brother, Everette Teague.
Survivors include son Kenneth Summey Welch and his wife Tierza; grandchildren Kenneth Summey Welch Jr., Angela Dawn Burns and husband Chris; sisters Lucy Teague, Malvenia Hoyle, Carolyn Harris and Kay Bolick; great granddaughter Madison Welch; and she loved her best friend, Albert Paul Pruitt.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home. Pastor Harry Blume will officiate and burial will follow at Grace Lutheran Church.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home on Friday.
