Oren Harris McKay

He was born February 25, 1928 in Anson County, NC to the late Randle Frederick McKay and Grace Mauldin McKay.

Oren was a retired auto mechanic and an avid gardener, whose advice was sought after on both subjects. He loved and appreciated the beauty of nature and all creatures both small and great.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Chip Hearne.

Left to cherish his memories are his devoted wife of 66 years, Nannie Story McKay; son, Freddie McKay of Iron Station; daughter, Debra McKay Hearne and husband, Tony of Catawba; brother, Danny McKay and wife, Mary Ellen of S.C.; sister, Sandra Jordan of Denver; grandson, O.J. Hearne and wife, Brittiany of Hickory; great grandchildren, Ayvah, Bailee, Preston and Easton; a special niece Sherry Jordan and several other nieces and nephews and a caregiver, Sandra Hoyle.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home from 4:00 – 5:30pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 with a time of remembrance from 5:30 -6:00pm with Pastor Ray Helms and Chaplain Meg Skidmore.
