Born February 11, 1946, he was the son of the late Melvin Crawley and Sadie Freeman Crawley and was self-employed. Ray loved his work in his auto body. Ray and Carol met on the square in Newton while cruising. Carol fell in love with his blues and that special laugh, they were married on December 7, 1968 and were blessed with two beautiful daughters Amy and Holly. His family and work became his life and what a happy life they had.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Daisey Bumgarner.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Carol Crawley; daughters, Amy Crawley of Gastonia and Holly Crawley of Newton; brothers, Jim Crawley, Flay Crawley, Robert Crawley, Alfred Crawley, Guy Crawley; sister, Marie Smith; and grandson, James “Jim” Alexander Ferguson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton.
