Richard Rudolph "Rudy" Martin

Rudy was born in Fieldale, VA on November 8, 1949 to the late Robert Randolph and Ruby Baysinger Martin. He was an accomplished R&D manager in the textile industry where he retired after 35+ years. Rudy would say his biggest accomplishment was mentoring all the children he coached in baseball and basketball. He grew up in the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, Rudy was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Martin Walker.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years, Brenda “Jeannie” Martin of the home; sons, Sean Dimitri Martin and wife, Staci of Winston-Salem, and Ian Mekhale Martin and wife, Holly of Gastonia, NC; granddaughter, Mallori Sophia Martin; grandson, Jackson Mekhale Martin; sisters, Roberta Pugh and husband, Donald of Edgefield, SC, and Frances Dettmar of Seattle, WA; brothers, Randy Martin and wife, Becky of Hertford, NC, and Reggie Martin and wife, Rosa of Greensboro, NC; two very influential Aunts, Bea Bullard and Barbara Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 in the Chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton, with Rev. Fred Thompson officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 2:45
