Susan Nail Kearney, 69 of Newton went into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 10, 2019. Susie was born on December 1, 1949 in Catawba County to the Late William Leroy and Helen Elizabeth Hefner Nail.

My wife loved life and always had a positive outlook on things, I always admired her for these qualities. Our mom was feisty and our grandmother was stubborn. Her grandchildren brought a smile to her face but the world revolved around the great-grand children. “Her family was her life and life she loved” next to shopping, her other passion, often hiding things in the car that she had purchased until the coast was clear. You could hear her mumble “where is Henry”?

Our Mom, Susie, Mamaw, Chuck, is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Ricky. Left to cherish her memories is her loving husband, Henry of 46 years, daughter Dana K. Smith; a son, Aron W. Kearney; brothers, Danny and Jr. Nail; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Pilkey and husband Nathan, Jesse Coleman Smith, Tabatha Christine Kearney, Riley; great-grandchildren Landon, Hayden and Alina.

The friends will gather to remember our loved one, Susie at the Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home, 56 Northwest Blvd, Newton, NC 28658, 828-464-0131, on Sunday, January 13 from 2 o’clock pm until 5. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.willisreynoldsfh.com who had been committed to Susie’s service arrangements.

I just learned of Susie’s passing and am heart broken. Susie was the first person that showed, this very shy new girl in school, friendship and I’ve never forgotten that. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Dear Henry & Family:

I was really shocked to hear about Susie. Growing up in the neighborhood, I feel like I have known Susie all of my life. May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, wrap you all in his love and care, not only during this time, but each and every day. The thoughts and prayers of my family will be with you all in the days to come.

Ronnie, Jaimee, Mason & Colby Ingram
