Susan Delores Kovalik

Born October 11, 1954, she was the daughter of Betty Ann Gilbert Nix of Newton and the late Hubert Smith Helms.

Susan enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved cats, horses and flowers.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Regina Hall.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Barry Leatherman and wife Lorna of Newton, Gregory Matthew Leatherman and wife Krista of Newton, Raymond Medlin of Gastonia; loving partner of 26 years, Allen Kendrick of the home; brothers, Ricky Wayne Helms of Claremont, Steven Eugene Helms of Lincolnton, Mark Anthony Helms of Newton; sister Kimberly Prather of Newton; grandchildren, Devin Matthew Leatherman of OK, Candice Roxanne Leatherman of Hickory, Aaron Stuart Leatherman of Newton, Sydney Peterson of Taylorsville and one great-granddaughter, Charlie Leatherman.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
