

Vivian Edith Callahan Estep, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Vivian was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Born September 12, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William Howard Callahan and Sadie Mae Fletcher Callahan. Having graduated from Elon College in 1952 and receiving her masters at East Tennessee State, Vivian was a retired educator at CVCC. She remained active in Delta Kappa Gamma. She was an active member of the Abernethy Laurels community and a dedicated, longtime member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She was dearly loved by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles Rhudy Estep and a grandson, Evan Forrest Blake.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Emile Blake and husband Forrest of Myrtle Beach, SC, Amy Collins and husband Scott of Potomac, MD; sisters, Shirley C. Latta and husband Don of Greensboro, NC, Janice C. Cook and husband Jack of Cincinatti, OH; grandchildren, Meghan Blake and Bekah Blake of Charlotte, NC and Quincy Collins of Potomac, MD.
A Memorial Service will be held at Spirit Place, Abernethy Laurels on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Andrew Taylor-Troutman, Rev. Ginny Taylor-Troutman and Pastor Todd W. Garren officiating.
