Born October 21, 1940, in Wilkes County, he was the son of the late James Odous Pearson and Mary Abigail Haas and was of the Baptist faith. Paul attended Hudson High School and retired from Kincaid Furniture. He loved the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter and trout fisherman. He never brought home many deer, but he truly loved being in the woods and was known to read a Louis Lamour book under a tree while waiting for the perfect buck.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Arnett Pearson; son, Gary Wayne Pearson; brother Glen; and sisters, Charlotte, Irene and Margaret.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Becky Duggan and husband, Danny; grandchildren, Michael Pearson, Hannah McLendon, Caleb Pearson, Chelsea Pearson, Vanessa Wertz; 6 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companions, Dolly and Bonnie.
The family extends their gratitude to the nurses and caregivers who tenderly cared for Paul.
Per Paul’s request, no services will be held, but in his memory, take a long walk in the woods.
