He was born on December 28, 1943, in Nortonville, New Jersey, son of the late Alexander and Anna (Konzik) Koriakin. Allen graduated from Paulsboro High School in 1962. He then attended Lenoir Rhyne University, earning a bachelor’s degree in business.
Allen served his country in the United States Army for three years serving as an officer second lieutenant in Germany. After completing his military service, he worked at Mobil Oil and then Sealand container shipping company, eventually serving as executive vice president and director of sales for the company.
Allen was an active member of the Sparta United Methodist Church and over the years served on the Board of Trustees, choir, and supported the Church Mouse Thrift Shop. In his free time, he enjoyed singing and attending karaoke nights as often as he could (or his family would humor him). Allen also enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, and meticulously and lovingly completing many projects for friends and family. He would never say no to helping with a project. He also enjoyed supporting (begrudgingly at times) the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Alexander and Arnold.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Ethel, his daughter and son-in-law Amy & Chris Longstreth, and his son and daughter-in-law Allen & Julie Koriakin, Jr. He also had four grandchildren, Taylor (and husband Mel), Mia, Allen, & Jessica, and two great grandchildren, Cameron & Paige, who were the light of his life. In addition, he is survived by his sister & brother-in-law Annette and Tom Dudzinski and sisters-in-law Marjorie & Bobbie Koriakin. Allen is also remembered by many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
A service to celebrate Allen’s life will be held at Sparta United Methodist Church on October 24th at 2 PM with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cleveland Clinic. Allen received lifechanging bypass surgery from the facility in 1999, and as a result, he had more time with family and friends than he ever thought he would. Our family is eternally grateful.
