On Saturday March 2, 2024, Bruce F. LaCarrubba of Sussex, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his winter home in Wellington, Florida. Bruce was born August 4, 1944 in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Carmen and Elsie LaCarrubba (née Bann).
Bruce dedicated his career to fighting for justice. He notably served as State Director for Legal Services of New Jersey and later as First Assistant Prosecutor in Sussex County. He was ever the champion of the vulnerable and disadvantaged. Bruce credited his long life and good health to the practice of Tai Chi, which he adopted after becoming a student of the late Master Jou Tsung Hwa. Bruce continued to share Master Jou’s teachings until his passing.
Bruce is survived by his children Kevin LaCarrubba, Christopher (Stephanie) LaCarrubba, and Lauren (Kristopher) Gomez and his grandchildren Sofie, Marin, William, Francesca, Petra & Harlan. He is also survived by his brother Roger (JoAnn) LaCarrubba and their family. He leaves loving memories with many friends and extended family, including the Sussex County legal community.
A visitation will be held on from 12 pm to 2 pm and 4 pm to 6 pm on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home 63 High St, Newton.
