
Born November 22, 1938 in Hackensack, NJ, Pete grew up in Oradell, NJ. Upon marrying his beloved wife, Judy, he lived 54 years, at his special Lake Mohawk home in Sparta, NJ.
He and Judy had two sons, Bill and Ken (Predeceased 1984).
He joined the New Jersey Air National Guard where he became the youngest man in his squadron promoted to the position of Flight Engineer. He became an instructor flight engineer and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Pete was also a licensed pilot.
He was active in community affairs. He was appointed to the Sparta Schools Citizen’s Advisory Committee, Sparta Industrial Commission and, later, to the Sparta Board of Adjustment. He also served on the Finance Committee of Lake Mohawk Country Club.
He was a member of the Lake Mohawk Golf Club for over 40 years, serving on the Board of Governors for six years and as President for two years. He successfully led the Club in approving and constructing a new Clubhouse. Pete led and served on many LMGC committees and finished his last 15 years there as the Club Historian.
Pete worked his entire adult life in the Packaging Industry. In 1973, he and Judy founded Chain Packaging Systems in Apollo Beach, FL Pete then worked for Icore/Acurex and rose to become Director of Sales & Marketing. Later he started TechSystems, Inc. in Sparta, NJ. Pete served as President of TechSystems for 15 years before retiring at age 58.
Once retired, Pete and Judy traveled extensively from Quebec, Canada to the Caribbean, first on Drummer, their sailing ketch and later on Harvest Moon, Grand Banks trawler. They loved the life style, living on their boats for five years and coming home only occasionally for special family events. While living on their boats, Pete took up writing and was published in several boating magazines. He also published his detailed logbook describing their adventures.
Pete and Judy studied horticulture and became Certified Master Gardeners at Rutgers University. Pete then gave up golf and entered into the hobby of model railroading.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Beckman Stoebling, son William Stoebling and his wife, Diane. Grandchildren Michael Fiss and his wife Kim, Zachary Stoebling and his wife Andrea, Cassandra Stoebling and finance Kyle. He also has three great grandchildren, Jasper, Emily & Addison.
Donations and flowers are not requested but if a gift is desired, donations in Pete’s memory should be made to the Lake Mohawk Country Club. A Memorial will be held at a later date.
