David was born on March 23, 1936 in De Lamer, ND to the late Jack and Doris (Danielson) Cox. He lived in Indiana, Rutherford and Ramsey, NJ and Vermont before settling in Newton over 45 years ago. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner and an operator at Printers Machinery Service Incorporated. David was a Volunteer Firefighter in Ramsey and enjoyed working on his classic cars as well as racing his red '56 Corvette. David found happiness in going camping and taking trips to Wildwood Beach with family and friends, attending the Hershey Car Show, listening to classical music, drinking coffee, taking care of animals and dining at the Lafayette House.
The beloved husband to Barbara Cox, David is survived by his children, Robert B. Cox (Erica) and Lauren Dibsie; his sister, Deborah Cox; his grandchildren, Lindsey, Samantha, Tyler (Savannah), Mason, and Benjamin; his great-grandchildren, Carson and Cooper; and his step-grandchildren, Byron, Morgan, and Arianna (children, Adeline and Leilani). Along with his parents, his siblings, Steven, Brian, Jaqueline and Ruby, predeceased by David.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. with interment to follow at Newton Cemetery in Newton, NJ.
