Born in Woodbridge, Donald moved to Sussex County in the early 1950’s and was a longtime resident of Sussex County. He worked in the retail liquor industry for 48 years, having worked at Shop-Rite in Newton and Bishops Liquor Store in Chester, before retiring in 2012. A member of Sparta Presbyterian Church, Donald was a Deacon, Head Usher and served on the Pastor Nominating Committee at the church. He was also founder of the Sparta Church Softball team and was a member of the Sparta Senior Bowling League as well.
The son of the late Richard K. and Beatrice S. (Webb) Saxe, Donald was also predeceased by his brother, Reynold Davis. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Haggerty) Saxe; his daughters, Donna Saxe, of Piston, PA, Deborah Beltran and husband, Jose, of Newton and Lisa Thomas and husband, Kyle, of Mt. Bethel, PA; his grandsons, Joseph and David Beltran, Ethan Saxe and Dylan Beleno. He is also survived by his sister, Marjorie Faust of Allentown, PA.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, with a Memorial Service at 7 p.m. Interment will be private.
