Ed was born on September 18, 1942, in Newton to the late Philip and Roberta (Washer) Stickles. A lifelong Newton resident, Ed was dedicated to his life of service both to his country and to those he loved. He served honorably in the Marine Corps, embodying the values of duty, honor and courage.
Ed worked diligently throughout his life and career; his strong work ethic and determination were admired by all who knew him. Outside of work, he cherished spending time with his family and friends. Whether it was a simple gathering or a weekend outing, everyone enjoyed hanging out with Ed. Those closest to him will always remember his warm smile, quick-witted humor and will miss his ability to listen and provide his thoughts and advice in a wide range of subjects.
The beloved husband to the late Ann Stickles, Ed, was survived by his children, Edward Stickles (Debbie), John Stickles, and Louise Mauro (Mike); his grandchildren, Edward, III (Julie), Roman (Kim), Sarah (Stephen), Logan (Paige), Michael and Danny and his sister, Peggy O’Brien. Along with his parents and wife, Ed was predeceased by his son, Joseph Stickles, his daughter-in-law, Beth, three brothers and two sisters.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 12 pm – 3 pm at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ. Time of sharing and Military Honors will begin at 3 pm at the funeral home.
