Born in Newark on October 21, 1934 to the late Michael and Helen (Witalis) Tomasula, Edward’s life was shaped by his deep love for family and his devotion to God.
Edward pursued higher education at Seton Hall University and Centenary College, laying the groundwork for a long and respected career as an auditor for Beneficial Corporation, which later became HSBC headquartered in Peapack, New Jersey. He retired as Senior Auditor on April 1, 1996.
In 1959 Edward married the love of his life, Mary A. In their later years, they would spend half the year in sunny Florida and the other half in New Jersey, happily chasing the sunshine and enjoying the friendships they built in both places. This coming June would have marked their 66th wedding anniversary—a testament to a life of partnership, love, and shared memories.
Outside of work, Edward had a passion for music and in the mid to late 50’s he was a proud member and bass drum player in the "Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights of Newark,” traveling and competing nationally. He was also an avid bowler and participated in leagues both in New Jersey and Florida, where he formed lasting friendships and enjoyed many spirited games.
Edward was an active member of his community, volunteering at Newton Memorial Hospital and serving as a Eucharistic Minister of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Newton. He also shared his faith as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Naples, Florida.
Edward leaves fond memories to his beloved wife, Mary A. Tomasula; his son Michael Tomasula (Kristine); his son Mark Tomasula; his son Stephen Tomasula (Sherry); and his daughter Linda Dunn (Christopher). He is also survived by 17 loving grandchildren and 2 cherished great-grandchildren.
Edward was predeceased by his sons John Tomasula and Paul Tomasula.
