Emery was born on June 10, 1928 in Sparta to the late William and Allie (Johnson) Castimore. Emery was a proud veteran of the U.S. Naval Submarine Service during World War 2. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Ideal Farms in Lafayette.
Emery was always very involved with his community, he served as a past President at the Frankford Township School Board and Vice President at the High Point Regional High School Board, he was the Chief and a life member of the Frankford Fire Department, a member of Kittatinny Masonic Lodge #164 F&AM, Captiva Island Yacht Club, former Cub Master of Branchville Cub Scouts, and formerly on the board of directors at Newton Medical Center. Emery was a member of the Branchville Presbyterian Church, and a trustee to Christ Union Chapel and Captiva Island Chapel by the Sea. He was also a member of Sussex County Board of Agriculture and NJ Farm Bureau. Emery strongly supported the 4H Market Animal Sale for decades by preparing steak sandwiches and purchasing 4H kids’ project animals.
The beloved husband of 73 years to the late Lillian Tanis Castimore, Emery is survived by his children, Dr. Emery Castimore, Jr. (Sam) and his wife, Joan Flanagan and Candace Moose and her husband, James; his grandchildren, Bradford (Lauren Elizabeth), Lauren Ann Riley (Timothy), Matthew (Leighanne), Robin Sue, Nathan and Emery; his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tyson, Henry, Lolly, Lilah and Dane and his sister, Joan Bamford. Along with his parents and wife, his daughter, Mary Ann Lent and his siblings, Betty De Camp, Gordon Castimore and Dean Castimore, predeceased Emery.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church of Sparta, 32 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871. Firemen's Service and Military Honors to follow.
