Erma Marie Hovencamp

Erma was born in Green Township, to the late Edward and Ione Smith. She grew up in Green Township and briefly lived in Sparta before moving back to her hometown. Erma was a member of the Green Senior Citizens Club and Greater Andover Seniors. She enjoyed gardening and canning.

The beloved wife of the late John H. Hovencamp, Erma is survived by her children, James Hovencamp and his wife Bernice, Gloria Putera and her husband Larry and Susan Hovencamp and her husband Michael Heath; her grandchildren, Michael Putera, Lori Sotosky and her husband Matthew, Alan Hendershot, Chris Hendershot and his wife Lori, Sherry Hovencamp and Keri Putera and her great-grandchildren, Andrew and his wife Kaitlin, Jeremy, Jason, Kayla, Tristen and Karena. Along with her parents and husband, Erma was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Schmidt, two sisters and seven brothers.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with interment to follow at Tranquility Cemetery in Green Township.
