Frances was born and raised in Braddock, PA. She graduated from Braddock High School then moved to New York City where she pursued a career as a shoe model and was also an executive secretary. While living in the city, Frances met the love of her life, Charles Duffy, and was married soon after. She was a longtime volunteer with the Kimball Hospital Thrift Store, dedicating more than 20 years of service to a worthy cause. She was also a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Affairs Auxiliary Post # 6765.
Frances was a woman of compassion, strength and impeccable taste. One of her favorite passions was going to garage sales where she could spot a bargain from a mile away. She saw purpose in the old, worn items others were discarding and would frequently purchase and refurbish them before gifting them to family and friends. Frances found many valuable items in her garage sale endeavors and would curate goods for her friend’s store in Wanaque, NJ. She will be fondly remembered for the strength of her character, her giving nature, her quick wit and great sense of humor.
Frances was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Anna Senkow; her husband, Charles Duffy; her son, Michael Duffy; her grandson, Michael James Neal; as well as her siblings. She is survived by her children, Patricia Miller, Charles Duffy (Nancy), and Frances Neal (James); her grandchildren, James Fetcho (Tara), Jonathan Neal, Jillian Rogers (Daiman), Charles “CJ” Duffy, Jr., Michael Duffy and Matthew Duffy; and her great-grandchildren, Noah, Charlotte and Katie Fetcho, Jonathan Neal, Jr. and Maverick Rogers.
Arrangements are private under the direction of Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, Newton, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Frances’ memory to the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave, Newton, NJ 07860.
