Joan was born on November 13, 1937 in Newark, NJ to the late Anthony and Jenny (Roccosanto) Carino. Joan grew up and graduated high school in Newark and after raising her family, returned to school and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Upsala College in Sussex, NJ. She settled in Green Township in December of 1972. Joan enjoyed painting, knitting and sewing and loved being crafty. She was an excellent cook and took great pleasure in hosting her family and friends. Joan also loved interior decorating and cherished spending time with her loved ones. She was loved not only by family but also by those near and far as she was a valued and treasured friend. Joan was instrumental in the founding and establishing Good Shepherd Church, a community that she loved.
The beloved wife of 64 years to Phil Casciano, Joan is survived by her adoring children, Emil Casciano and wife Maryann, Anthony Casciano and wife Barbara, Gena Casciano, Jennifer Goosay and husband Michael and Philip Casciano and wife Lori; her sister, Joyce Malanga and husband Ralph; her grandchildren, Jessica, Emily, Felicia, Joseph, Alicia, Olivia and Julia and her great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Colton and Aidan. Along with her parents, Joan was predeceased by her siblings, Jean Shapiro and Butch Carino.
A Catholic mass in Joan’s honor will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 48 Tranquility Rd, Andover, NJ 07821. A Celebration of Life will begin immediately after Mass has concluded in the church reception hall. The family hopes to greet you and reminisce about Joan’s well-lived life.
