Born and raised in Passaic, Mac lived in Mahwah and Hopatcong, then lived in Hackettstown for 25 years. He worked in various middle management positions for NJ Transit Train Operations in Hoboken, retiring in 2017 with 43 years of service. Mac enjoyed music and had an eclectic and extensive music collection. He was a devoted Dad and loyal NJ Transit employee.
The son of the late Loretta (Conklin) McDonald, Mac was also predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Hazel and Sam Conklin; his paternal grandmother, Lena Cadigan; and his stepmother, Patricia McDonald. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Mary Rose McDonald of Montague, to whom he was a loving Dad; his father and stepmother, William McDonald and wife, Jackie, of Venice, Florida; and his brother, Timothy McDonald and wife, Adrienne, of Kansas.
Services are private and under the direction of the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ.
