Lucian Kirk Vandoren, 70, passed away on July 5, 2026, at Complete Care at Barn Hill in Newton. Born January 25, 1956, in Washington, DC. Kirk grew up in Washington and lived in several locations before settling in Andover Township, NJ for the past 30 years.
Kirk was a graduate of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from Clemson University in Clemson, SC.
Kirk carried forward a steady independence and a strong work ethic that shaped the way he approached each season of life.
Kirk was employed by Bed, Bath & Beyond since 1989, where he designed and set up new locations with much pride in detail. His dedication was evident in the care he brought to his work, reliable and diligent in the standards he set for himself.
Outside of work, Kirk found enjoyment in pursuits that reflected both patience and curiosity. He was a stamp collector, enjoyed golf, and valued time at the casinos. He was a member of Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, MD, loved to travel, and was a collector of Swarovski crystals.
Kirk is survived by his sister, Leslie V. Highley; and his niece, Kristen Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his father, Lucian Vandoren; his mother, Susan Ann (nee. Ring) Vandoren; and his sister, Susan Schaffer.
Kirk will be remembered with respect for the life he built through perseverance, self-reliance, and consistent effort, and for the quiet pride he took in doing things well.
