Marie was born on August 18, 1948 in Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands to Herman and Maria C. VanNieuwland. Marie came to the United States at the age of seven and settled in Paterson, NJ. She was a lifelong resident of Sussex County. Marie was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, sewing and ceramics. She was also an entrepreneur, owned two businesses, and held several managerial positions with local retail companies.
Marie is survived by her husband, John McCurry; her two sons, Andrew McCurry (Donna) and Timothy McCurry; her three brothers, Herman VanNieuwland, Martin VanNieuwland and John VanNieuwland; her two granddaughters, Allison McCurry and Mattison McCurry and her two grandsons, Kyle McCurry and Patrick McCurry.
Visitation for Marie will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home 63 High Street, Newton, NJ 07860. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow in the North Hardyston Cemetery.
