Marilyn Concannon, 96, of Frankford Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Bentley Assisted Living, where she had spent the past seven years surrounded by compassionate care and kindness.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 12, 1928 to the late Arthur and Rita (Patton) Murnane, Marilyn went on to build a long and dedicated career as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, where she cared for patients until her retirement in 1985.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Francis “Frank” Concannon, in 2006. Together they raised their family in Breezy Point, New York, before relocating to Sparta, New Jersey, later settling in Augusta, and eventually making Bentley Assisted Living her home.
Marilyn was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church in Branchville, where her faith was an anchor throughout her life. Her family will always remember her free-spirited nature, her quick wit, and her effortless ability to make people laugh. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In her younger years, Marilyn loved riding her bike and the excitement of a day out at the horse track. Above all, she lived life with humor, energy, and an open heart—gifts she shared generously with all who knew her.
Marilyn is survived by her loving children, Dorothy Healy (Kevin), Patrick Concannon (Teri), and Catherine Concannon; her sisters, Rita Buckhorn and Anne O’Leary; her grandchildren, Colleen Healy, Matthew Healy, Kerry Brupbacher (Daniel), and Patrick F. Concannon (Jennie); her great-grandchildren, Jack Brupbacher, Reilly Brupbacher, Quinn Brupbacher, Reid Brupbacher, Sofia Concannon, and Camila Concannon; and her sisters-in-law, Betty Murnane, and Denise Murnane.
Marilyn was also predeceased by her brothers, Edmund Murnane, Arthur Murnane (Marion), and Robert Murnane.
A Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 27th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ 07860. Marilyn’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 28th, 2025 at Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church, 209 US-206, Branchville, NJ.
