Maureen loved loud, and she loved on her own terms. She was stubborn, blunt, and painfully (sometimes hilariously) honest, the kind of woman who would tell you exactly what she thought whether you wanted to hear it or not. She was the life of every party and rooms got a little more chaotic, and a lot more fun, the second she walked in.
She loved her family fiercely, in her own particular way, not soft, not gentle, but real. She kept track of the people she loved. She held onto the small things, the details everyone else forgot, and that was how you knew you mattered to her. She was happiest at the pool or the beach, sitting in the sun, with a drink and bag of onion & garlic chips nearby.
Her grandchildren were the center of her world, plain and simple. She loved them completely, and she'd want them to know it.
Maureen is survived by her husband, Roger L Kays; her daughters, Kayla Coradin, Ashleigh Kays, Jessica Restel, and Amy Fairweather; her brothers, Paul Berrigan, Thomas Berrigan, and Michael Berrigan; her sister, Kathleen Schwander; and her seven grandchildren, Ally, Livi, Rocco, Gio, Gabby, Rafe and Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Berrigan, and her mother, Frances Piniaha.
In lieu of flowers, sit by the pool with a drink in hand, call someone just to argue with them, or throw a party loud enough that the neighbors complain. (She'd have been the first one there.)
The family will be holding a celebration in her memory at a later date.
