Nathaniel C. Brown Jr.

Nathaniel C. Brown Jr., age 75, of Budd Lake, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Nathaniel was born in Newton, New Jersey on September 11, 1947 to the late Catherine and Nathaniel C. Brown, Sr. Nathaniel bravely served in the U.S. Army as a specialized heavy equipment mechanic from 1969 to 1974, later becoming an Owner Operator Truck Driver for 35 years. His loved ones warmly recall how Nathaniel’s fondness for his truck came second only to his unwavering love for family and friends. In his spare time, Nathaniel was an avid fan of NASCAR and enjoyed water skiing or swimming in Budd Lake. He especially relished time spent sitting outside with a beer, enjoying his shipshape yard. Above all, Nathaniel would go to great lengths to help those he loved and he will be dearly missed. Nathaniel is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Brown; son, Jayson Brown and his wife Cindy Henderson-Brown; grandson, Henry R. Henderson III; great-grandchildren, Saige and Brayden Henderson; sister, Joan Fischer; and nephews, Steven and David Fischer. A visitation for Nathaniel will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, NJ 07860. A funeral service will take place Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by entombment at Newton Cemetery Mausoleum, 19 Lawnwood Ave. Memorial donations may be made to Father John’s Animal House, 50 Father John’s Lane, Lafayette, NJ 07848, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
