Norma was born on August 3, 1924 in Manhattan to the late David and Mary (Vanni) Moriglia. She grew up in New York before moving to Dover, NJ in 1948 after getting married to her beloved husband, Henry D. Black. She was an accountant for several companies over the years but her biggest pursuit was being a dedicated and devoted mother and grandmother. Norma developed a love for reading, a hobby that shaped her lifelong commitment to learning and discovery. In addition to her literary pursuits, Norma was a committed crossword enthusiast. Norma and her husband were also choir members at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Dover for many years before moving to Sussex County.
Norma is survived by her children, Carolyn Becker (Phillip) and Henry Black (Theresa); her grandchildren, Tony Becker (Lacey), Sara Black and Daniel Black and her great-grandchildren, Sophia Becker and Amelia Becker. Along with her parents and husband, Norma was predeceased by two granddaughters, Dana Becker and Michelle Becker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 24 Halsted Street, Newton, NJ. Interment will follow at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery in Dover, NJ. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ.
