Born in Franklin, Pam grew up in Andover Township where she lived until moving to Newton. She was a 1971 graduate of Newton High School and attended Berkeley (Secretarial) College in East Orange, NJ. Pam was the dedicated Office Manager for Smith-McCracken and Wood Funeral Homes for over 35 years.
Throughout her life, Pam spent her time caring for her family and those in her community that were most in need. She spent her life dedicated to the work of the church at First United Methodist Church of Newton where she was a lifelong member, serving as the Youth Leader, member of the Chancel Choir, Chair of Administrative Council, Sunday School Superintendent, Chair of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee and Church Lay Leader. Pam worshipped regularly with the faith community of Trinity UMC in Hackettstown and Aldersgate UMC in East Brunswick.
Prior to her time at Smith McCracken and Wood Funeral Homes, Pam was a valued employee in the Mental Health Department of Newton Memorial Hospital, Robinson Aerial Survey and the Fireman’s Fund of NJ. Outside of her career, she spent many years serving her community as President for the Junior Woman’s Club of Newton and as a State Officer for the Woman’s Club of NJ. She dedicated a significant part of her life as a founding member of the Sussex County Interfaith Hospitality Network (now Family Promise) working to create and implement programs to care for those in need throughout Sussex County. Pam was an avid supporter of Norwescap Pathways 2 Prosperity since its inception and dedicated her life to impacting those that needed support and care. She also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Friends of Hospice for many years and received several awards for her commitment to the community throughout her lifetime.
Beyond all of these amazing acts of service and dedication to the community, Pam was the most amazing mother and grandmother. She loved her family deeply and did all that she could to provide a life full of love and support even in her final moments. Pam loved spending time with her children and their families, especially trips to Disney World. She truly was a gift from God, and she will be forever loved and forever missed by her family, friends, and all that knew her. Pam truly lived a life living out the call that God placed on her heart, and she was welcomed home as a “good and faithful servant”.
