Paul was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Rita Worthington; and his wife, Marge. He is survived by his three children, Paul and his wife, Janet, John and his wife, Aggie, and Steve and his wife, Nicole; as well as his brothers and sisters, Charles Worthington, Richard Worthington, Rita Wenning, and Marie Earle. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was a resourceful man whose life was shaped by family, practical skill, and a willingness to help others. After attending a one-room schoolhouse in Wykertown and later Frankford Township Elementary School, he left school after sixth grade to work with his father and help support the family. Over the years, he worked in excavating and as a mechanic, carpenter, and mason, earning a reputation as a true jack of all trades who could understand, repair, and rebuild almost anything.
He was happiest when he was “tinkerin’,” turning broken machines and cast-off materials into useful things. His ingenuity could be seen in the cabin he moved from Camp Columbus and transformed into the family home, the automobiles he brought back to life, and the homemade camper that carried his family across the country.
He also enjoyed hunting, collecting and repurposing scrap, listening to Johnny Cash, watching old westerns, and eating sweets (especially those from the family bakery).
His love and pride for his family were clear. He gave his time freely, loaned his tools, repaired family and friends’ cars and homes, and quietly appeared whenever someone needed a hand.
He will be deeply missed by his sons and extended family, who will carry forward his kindness, resourcefulness, and sense of curiosity and adventure. A very special thank you to his sisters Rita and Marie who took turns sitting with and talking to him in the last weeks of his life.
