Roger was born in Managua, Nicaragua on September 16, 1938 to the late Guillermo and Rosa (DeTrinidad) Mejia. Roger grew up in Nicaragua and moved to New York City in 1948, he moved to Morris County, NJ in the 1960s before settling in Sussex County in 2000. Roger received his Bachelor’s degree at the School of Visual Arts in NYC where he later returned as a professor. Prior to his retirement he was a freelance Animator and Commercial Artist, he enjoyed working for Warner Brothers, Disney and MTV. He also traveled to Canada and South America to work. Roger was a sports enthusiast, he was a part of a bowling team and a men’s softball team, however later in life he enjoyed golfing and watching baseball, golf and football. Roger cherished his wife and spending time with his beloved family.
The beloved husband of 64 years to Bertha Mejia, Roger is also survived by his children Debbie Titus and her husband Dan, Roger Mejia, Jr. and his wife, Gabrielle, Denise Grotyohann and her husband Charles, and Michelle Costanza and her husband, Brian, His grandchildren: Desiree (Robbie), Roger (Colleen), Raymond, Dana (Shaun), Danielle (Anthony), Danny, Leanna (Dan), Chelsea (Kyle), Alicia, Charlie, Rocco, Gina, Vinny and Angela. His great-grandchildren: Hazel, Viviana, Scarlett, Kaia, Madison, Lily, Luke, Sophie, Angelo, Isabella and Aurora and his brothers, Leslie Mejia and his wife Rosa and William Mejia and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 24 Halsted Street, Newton, NJ 07860. Interment to follow at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Netcong.
