Ronnie was born in Franklin, NJ to the late Harold A. and Dorothy H. (Litts) Decker on February 13, 1953. He grew up in Lafayette, NJ and graduated from High Point Regional High School.
Ronnie was the proud owner and operator of Sussex County Fire Sales & Service in Augusta, NJ, and former owner of Decker’s Fire & Safety Equipment, where he dedicated many years to serving the Sussex County community.
Ronnie was a lifelong public servant whose dedication to his community was unwavering. He was a life member of the Lafayette Township Fire Department and served as Fire Chief from 1994 to 1995. A founder and life member of Lafayette Township EMS, Ronnie proudly served as Captain for 12 years. He was also a life member of the Newton First Aid Squad and a founding member of Hampton Township Fire & Rescue. In the 1970s, he served as a firefighter for Hoffman-La Roche Pharmaceuticals at their Belvidere, NJ location. In addition to his contributions to emergency services, Ronnie served for many years as a Safety Director of the New Jersey State Fair - Sussex County Farm and Horse Show. His commitment to service and community left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Decker; his son Matthew Decker and his wife, Sarah; and grandson, Wyatt. Ronnie is also survived by two brothers, Fred Decker and Larry Decker; and four sisters, Pat Bennett, Margaret Drew, Marion Elston, and Sandy Lewis; as well as many loving sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Along with his parents, Ronnie is predeceased by two sisters Arlene Decker and Linda Haskins; and three brothers, Harold (Butch) Decker, Jr., William (Bill) Decker, and David Decker, Sr.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 2pm to 6pm at the Lafayette Firehouse, 126 NJ-15, Lafayette, NJ 07848, with a Firemen's Service being held at 5pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Lafayette Firehouse. Following funeral services, a burial will be held at Frankford Plains Cemetery.
